Ladies and gentlemen, do you feel a little left out of the loop with your ignorance of RSS. Well, never fear, we here at the Islamify blog want to help and so here is a little video explanation that should do the trick of telling you all that you need to know.
For those of you who prefer to read a description rather than see it, scroll down past the video. When you’re done subscribe to our RSS feed by clicking on the image to the right for the latest from the Islamify team.
RSS is a great FREE way too save yourself time and is super easy to use so you should really get on the RSS bandwagon. RSS stands for “really simple syndication” and is designed so that instead of you having to visit all your favorite websites to see what’s new, all of your sites can just send YOU their latest updates and you can read them all in one place.
First, you need to get a reader, which aggregates all your feeds in one place. there are many readers out there like:
Google Reader
Bloglines
Feedreader
Newsgator
My Yahoo!
Personally, I use the Google reader because it is conveniently tied to my gmail account (as a matter of fact, if you have a gmail account you already have a reader) but you can use whatever you like.
Once you have chosen a reader the next step is to grab the RSS feeds from your favorite sites. That’s really easy, all you have to do is click on the RSS feed icon pictured here
and when prompted choose the particular reader you are using from a list.
And that’s all there is to it!!! Now you can get updates on all your favorite sites in one convenient location.
That being said subscribe to the RSS feed for the Islamify blog for more interesting information for the net newbie and veteran both as well as updates about the Muslim Social News Site Islamify.com. Also, you can subscribe to the Islamify.com site to get the latest exciting news percolating in the Ummah today!!!
